چکیده

Interstitial deletions of the long arm of chromosome 2, involving band 2q24, have been described on three occasions. We report our findings in a further case, in which we mapped the deletion to band 2q24.3.

A cytogenetic study of nonpolymalformed patients with mental retardation of clinically undefined etiology: application of a high resolution banding technique.

We performed a cytogenetic study on 140 nonpolymalformed patients with mental retardation of clinically undefined origin, using a high resolution banding technique, to determine how much chromosome abnormalities contribute to the etiology of this condition. A total of 15 patients (10.7%) were found to have autosomal or sex chromosomal abnormalities. Autosomal abnormalities included partial mono...

A Patient with Interstitial 5q21 Deletion, Familial Adenomatous Polyposis, Dysmorphic Features, and Profound Neurologic Dysfunction

Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a hereditary autosomal dominant cancer syndrome, results from germ line mutation or deletion of the Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) gene on chromosome 5q21. Patients with FAP suffer from multiple polyps mainly at the colorectal region as well as other parts of the gastrointestinal tract, which has propensity to transform into carcinoma. FAP has also...

Hemizygous interstitial deletion of chromosome 15 (band D) in three translocation-negative murine plasmacytomas.

Three murine plasmacytomas that were exceptional in lacking the characteristic (12;15) or (6;15) translocations were studied by G banding and high-resolution banding. One of every two chromosomes 15 (two of four in tetraploid tumors) was shortened in all three tumors. High-resolution banding analysis revealed that this was due to an interstitial deletion in the 15D band region. The two breaks r...

A de novo Deletion of Chromosome 18p With Persistent Limb Tremor and Difficulty Speaking: A Case Report

The common causes of 18p deletion syndrome are spontaneous errors in the chromosomal structure in the early stages of human embryonic development. In this study, a 29-year-old girl was introduced with the features of deletion of chromosome 18. In addition, GTG banding karyotype revealed that this case had a deletion involving the short arm of chromosome 18. In comparison with the usual phenotyp...

Mild phenotype associated with an interstitial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 1.

We report on a 21 month old child referred to us because of facial dysmorphism and psychomotor retardation. The patient's phenotype was characterised by a wide and receding forehead, broad nasal bridge, redundant retronuchal skin, low set and poorly shaped ears, micrognathia, and small hands and feet. High resolution R and G banding karyotype analysis of peripheral blood lymphocytes showed an i...
